Training course on LPIR Development and Implementation of MARPOL Annex VI held in Georgia

A global training course on “LPIR Development and Implementation of MARPOL Annex VI” is being held, at the margins of the Georgia International Maritime Forum, in Batumi, Georgia. Participants from all ten GloMEEP LPCs will be trained in the use of the three Guides, developed under the GloMEEP Project in collaboration with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), namely:

  1. Rapid Assessment Guide for determining the country maritime energy efficiency and emissions status;
  1. Guide for maritime energy efficiency strategy development; and
  1. Guide for incorporation of MARPOL Annex VI into national law

The Guides aim to support countries in strengthening and developing national regulatory frameworks related to the prevention of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from ships, in particular with respect to IMO’s regulations on energy efficiency from ships as set out in Chapter 4 of Annex VI of the MARPOL Convention.

It is expected that following the training course, participants from the GloMEEP LPCs will develop their own national reports.
