Port State Control workshop on MARPOL Annex VI held in Malaysia

A national training workshop on “Port State Control and Enforcement of MARPOL Annex VI” is currently underway in Johor, Malaysia.

The workshop is being run over 3 days and aims to train Port State Control Officers on how to effectively enforce the provisions set out in MARPOL Annex VI. Co-organized by Marine Department Malaysia, almost 40 PSCOs from across the host country have convened for this training, which has included class-based lectures and exercises as well as a field visit to the Port of Johor, in which participants have had the opportunity to carry out a practice inspection under MARPOL Annex VI onboard a containership. This included checking the MARPOL Annex VI related certificates and documentation, looking at the fuel tank arrangement and the MARPOL bunker fuel samples.
