IMO Model Course workshop held in the Philippines

A national workshop on the implementation of IMO Model Course 4.05 on Energy Efficient Operation of Ships has been held in Manila, Philippines from 23 to 24 February 2017, which aims to capacitate maritime training institutes to introduce the topic of ship energy-efficiency into their teaching curriculum.

Participants from various national maritime universities, shipping colleges and institutes are attending the workshop, hosted by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), which covers various methods for improving energy efficiency of ships including optimized ship handling, fuel and energy management, and shipboard system planning. The workshop also featured a presentation on Philippines’ national efforts for legal, policy and institutional reforms through the development of their national maritime status assessment, strategy and legislation.
