Philippines holds a national workshop on port emissions
The Philippines has held a national workshop on the Prevention and control of shipping and port air emissions (15-17 May), which trained over 30 participants on how to conduct a port emissions assessment and develop emission reduction strategies accordingly. The workshop looked into how to quantify emissions in ports (both ocean and land-based) from various different source categories such as cargo handling equipment and trucks etc. and is based on two Guides which have been developed by the GloMEEP Project in collaboration with the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH): Guide for a Port Emissions Status Assessment and Guide for the Development of a Port Emissions Reduction Strategy,
Participants from the maritime administration, port authority, port terminals and academia attended the three-day workshop, hosted by the Philippines Maritime Industry Authority.
